The Supreme Court and Prayer at Government Meetings

October 8, 2013

As you’ve probably heard, Americans United will argue an important church-state case before the U.S. Supreme Court next month. Town of Greece v. Galloway challenges the use of sectarian prayers to open meetings of local government in a New York community.

PBS’s award-winning “Religion & Ethics Newsweekly” recently aired an excellent segment on the case. It features comments by Susan Galloway, one of the plaintiffs, and AU Legal Director Ayesha Khan, who will argue the case before the court on Nov.6.
